Dental Hygiene and Medical Sonography Programs Ranked Third

Allied Health programs at ���˲ؾ���have received top rankings in North Carolina for 2019 by . The Dental Assisting Program placed first in the state. Dental Hygiene ranked third right behind UNC-Chapel Hill, and Medical Sonography also ranked third.

is an online resource that simplifies access to nursing and health care education information with the goal of helping students make better education choices. Currently, the site reaches more than 100,000 students every month, from all over the country.

The Dental Assisting program was chosen because ���˲ؾ���students graduate with a solid grounding in technical, clinical, and administrative skills, according to . Students are encouraged to participate in community service and professional organizations to further their professional and personal growth.

“Our Allied Dental programs have been an integral part of ���˲ؾ���for nearly five decades,” said Allied Dental Chair Carol Little. “Our programs meet rigorous standards that allow our graduates to challenge national and regional board exams in order to earn the credentials required to practice in their chosen field. We are proud of this recognition as it reflects the effort that our students, faculty, and staff put into the educational process.”

Factors in determining rankings are academic quality, student success, affordability, number of students enrolled, and the editorial team ratings. A-B Tech’s Allied Health selective admissions policy was also a factor in the classification.

The Dental Hygiene program was cited because it prepares students to confidently face the challenges that an allied dental-field poses. “Moreover, its beautiful campus, located amidst a mountainous terrain offers an exciting mix of serenity and vibrant culture, as there are many recreational options to choose from in close proximity”, according to .

Medical Sonography was touted because its graduates are successfully working as entry-level ultrasound technicians in a variety of settings across the state, such as hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics, and imaging centers. Students are trained with job-ready skills by a faculty that have years of experience as clinicians and instructors.

“We strive to prepare and graduate educated, qualified, and motivated sonographers,” said Chastity Case, Chair of Medical Sonography. “Our graduates are ready to excel in the healthcare industry. We are proud to serve Western North Carolina.”
